January 2026: AI Image Generation

Text-to-image models dispersed from research labs to consumer applications in under two years. Original concerns about deepfakes and misinformation scattered as millions of users generated billions of images. The concentrated capability to create realistic images—once limited to skilled artists and photographers—exploded into ubiquitous amateur access. Observe the speed of dispersal. Note that reversal is thermodynamically implausible.

Ongoing: Institutional Trust

Concentrated trust in major institutions (media, government, academia, medicine) continues eroding. Not a sudden collapse but a steady entropotic transition. Trust disperses into thousands of micro-sources—individual influencers, niche communities, personal networks. The organized structures that concentrated credibility are losing coherence.

Pattern Recognition

When observing potential entropotic phenomena, look for:

  1. Previously concentrated order or capability
  2. Rapid dispersal into multiple fragments
  3. Loss of original coherence or intent
  4. Irreversibility of the transition
  5. Unpredictability of exact endpoints despite knowing general direction.

Not all change is entropotic. Some transitions build new order. The key is identifying genuine explosions from order to disorder versus mere transformation.

More observations will be added as patterns emerge. This is documentation, not prediction.
